Modern Alternatives

It's Wedding Season!!! How are those plans coming along?

Today we're looking at alternatives to some of the traditional accessories used in the wedding ceremony and reception.

The Sand Ceremony, in its simplest form, features two glass containers that are each filled with a different color of sand and placed on either side of a larger glass container. The container can be empty or filled with a base layer of neutral-colored sand -- some versions also include an additional small container of colored sand used by the priest or officiant.

This is a strong and beautiful representation of the "two becoming one" concept that has resonated with couples all over the world - the grains of sand can never be separated.

Over the years, there have been several unique alternatives to the Guest Book Signing. Stones, puzzles, bottles, and even benches have been used by newlyweds to capture the sentiments of their wedding guests.  We also offer custom printed vintage maps and signing trees with "leaf" appliques for creating a three-dimensional appearance.

Whatever the concept you're using for these two significant parts of your wedding celebration, you are sure to find them at Py-ôn-i Designs.

Pretty in Pink for The Bridal Expo 2012

Vintage Charm was the inspiration for our display at The Bridal Expo, held recently in Barbados. Soft Pink, Ivory and Gold were the colours we chose for this theme.  Accents of lace and pearls were used to add a touch of romance to the overall look.

Special thanks to Sanojah's for supplying the ivory and pink linens.

Message in a Bottle (not the song)

It's always so refreshing when a bride is looking for something different for her wedding invitations.

One of my clients recently requested an invitation that doesn't require an envelope.  At first box invitations came to mind. But after discussing the concept for the wedding, the conclusion was very logical - message in a bottle invitations!

The wedding ceremony is set for a beautiful outdoor venue on the south coast of Barbados, and the celebration continues with a catamaran cruise for cocktails. The bride chose their favourite colours for the celebration - navy blue and fuchsia.

A "sea" of navy chevron stripes with a pretty pink nautilus shell floating, works as the base for the invitations.  Each bottle is stopped with a wooden cork and bears a fuchsia scalloped-edge tag personalized with guest names.

This was definitely a fun project to work on!
